Off The Beaten Track WA takes you on an unforgettable hiking experience through the Numbat Trail in Paruna Wildlife Sanctuary, located in the breathtaking Avon Valley in Greater Perth, Western Australia. This 12km trail is the longest of the three trails in Paruna and is known for its challenging terrain and stunning views of the Paruna Gorge.

As you traverse the many switchbacks, you will be immersed in a complex mosaic of woodland, shrubland, and heathland throughout steep granite slopes, boardwalks, and eerie marshes. The scent of eucalyptus is ever-present, and the sanctuary is home to several significant species, including the threatened Chuditch (Western Quoll), Carnaby's Black Cockatoo, Honey Possum, and Western Pygmy Possum.

Off The Beaten Track WA provides a trained and experienced Lead Guide and Tail Ender for the hike. They carry two-way communication devices and a personal location beacon when phone signal is not available and are a fully licensed, insured and accredited Western Australian tourism business. This hike is not for inexperienced hikers, and a medium level of fitness is required.

Your experience includes a guided hike, nutritious morning tea, complimentary use of hiking poles, sunscreen, repellent, and access to all hike photographs. All you need to bring is a camera, 3 liters of water, head torch with spare batteries, personal first aid, a good attitude, and a big smile.

Paruna Wildlife Sanctuary is a perfect example of the unique and diverse landscapes that Greater Perth, Western Australia has to offer. We Wander is proud to partner with Off The Beaten Track WA to bring you this inspiring hiking experience.
